I’d like everyone reading this to remember the title of this post ‘It’s okay to slow down’.
In a world where everything is FAST –
Rushing for the bus/train
Time limits and constraints
Loose weight FAST schemes
Just take the time to really think about your next step!
Rushing to get something done is almost always more stressful, and when I am rushing I find I make a lot more mistakes with something than if I were to just think about it and take my time. Trying to reduce stress is a goal everyone should always strive for. Most recently I have found that taking time to go for a walk or sit alone and read for even 5 minutes really helps clear your head and helps me look at things differently after taking the de-stress break.
We also need to remind ourselves while on social media being bombarded with ‘perfect’ images and stories that make out to have the ‘perfect life’, I recommend not comparing yourself to these more than likely false images that have been overly curated and photo-shopped and un realistically posted causing unnecessary stress for some viewers that strive to be ‘perfect’ instead of this take one thing in your life and try to slow it down. It’s easy to try to rush this but try and slow everything down. Try a daily habit and slow it down. Perhaps try listening to your people more… Really deeply listen. Ask questions, without the intent of interrupting, just give them a chance to talk, slowly, if they choose and listen. Take your time and listen. something like not looking at your phone right before bed instead read, colour draw, listen to a podcast etc… My favourites at the moment are –

Nowadays there are some incredible apps out there and everything is at our fingertips to assist us in daily life and routines apps such as Calm, Habit, Yoga practice these apps can give you a little nudge to taking a moment to yourself to calm, breath and re focus. I have found meditation is a powerful way to add a sense of calm to my every day sometimes hectic life.
Take a moment to journal ours are far from perfect and in all honesty we do not remember to write in them daily but try and take some time to write down a positive quote or something you have enjoyed about the day etc… take time to remind yourself to slow down, being on over drive all the time is so ingrained into our daily life and routines that it is natural to be on GO at all times and most of the time we don’t even realize we are constantly working and stressing out.
